State of Oklahoma Limits Access to Court Records
Citing Privacy concerns the State of Oklahoma Supreme Court has ruled that court records should not be made available to the general public online. Effective June 10, 2008 the only method for performing a criminal record search in Oklahoma is to go directly to the courthouse.
The biggest concern is that the court also said that people filing cases should omit personal identifiers such as Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, names of minor children, dates of birth, financial account numbers and home addresses.
This is a concern because removing all identifiers leaves those who search these records with no way of confirming that the conviction belongs to the subject of their search.
