Happy New Year! As we enter into a new year we face many challenges with our needs in staffing and security. At employeescreenIQ we look forward to the many exciting things happening in our industry. 2006 brings many opportunities for our clients; we are looking forward to sharing them with you as the year rolls on. Sometime near the end of the first quarter we will be releasing our new enhanced web ordering system, My employeescreen™. Details of this new exciting system will roll out over the next few months and we look forward to sharing them with you! Also coming soon is our new re-designed website! employeescreenIQ always strives to enhance your screening experience. This is why we released two major new products last year: The Homeland Security Search and our enhanced Global Screening Services. Many of you have taken advantage of these new products. If not, please be sure to contact your Account Executive.
We couldn’t be more proud of our recent distinction among the Weatherhead 100 Companies as Northeast Ohio’s Fourth fastest growing company!! We have many new faces at employeescreenIQ and we continue to add talented associates as our organization expands. Be sure to see the New Faces section of The Verifier™ every quarter!
employeescreenIQ continues to be involved in defining ethical and compliance standards in the screening industry. As Co-Chair of the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS), I can attest that there has been great progress over the last year. NAPBS has retained the services of a Lobbyist Firm in Washington DC with whom I have worked closely in developing ways to make our voices heard as an industry! We recently visited Washington and had many successful meetings with Senate staff and various government agencies. One of our biggest challenges is the focus of state and federal governments on privacy and data protection. As the industry and employeescreenIQ supports these efforts its imperative that our voices are heard when decisions inadvertently affect our industry. A great example was North Carolinas effort to redact Date of Birth (DOB’s) from public records. We certainly understand their efforts but it would have had a huge negative impact on our ability to positively identify and link an individual with a criminal record. After a successful letter writing campaign and a few phone calls the state decided that their efforts would severely impact the employers of their state. This is only one example, there are several similar initiatives in other states and we are working hard to make sure the consequences are fully understood by legislators.
I hope to spend some more time this year writing for our blog, http://blog.employeescreen.com. In doing so, I hope to keep our clients more informed about events and developments at BIS and other issues that affect our industry. I am always available to all of our valued clients. Feel free to call or drop me an email if you ever have any questions or concerns.
